THE HASSELBLAD
INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD
The Hasselblad Award is an international photography prize, considered the most prestigious in the world. Granted to “a photographer recognised for major achievements,” the award comprises the sum of SEK 1,000,000 and is presented by the Swedish crown prince, Carl-Philip. The winner of the 2016 prize was Canadian photographer and film director Stan Douglas.
AN HONOR,
AND A CHALLENGE
After the enthusiastic reception our decor received the previous year, Imago was asked to propose something even more astonishing for the 2016 ceremony. Taking full advantage of the magnificent architecture at the event's venue — the Gothenburg Museum of Art — major balloon installations were suspended throughout the space.
THREE INSTALLATIONS
In the main exhibition hall, stalactite-like formations of linking ballons descended from the high ceiling, and in the ceremony space itself an organic growth of balloons crawled along walls and ceilings toward the dinner hall. A late mingle in the foyer was decorated with a ceiling of over 100 big balloons in gold and brass.
