A GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY
AstraZeneca is a bio-pharmaceutical company whose medicines are used by millions of patients worldwide. The inauguration of a new visitor center, The Amazing Journey, marked the 50th anniversary of AstraZeneca’s R&D center in Gothenburg, and was a celebration of the company’s remarkable history, and its bright future. To recognize the occasion, Imago was called in to dream up something spectacular, inspired by the company’s field of innovative excellence: the human body.
FROM MICROSCOPIC TO GIGANTIC
The assignment called for major installations in multiple areas of AstraZeneca’s sprawling complex — including three entrances, a large foyer, a restaurant, two cafés, and a 50-meter-long hallway. Inspiration for the decor came from photographs of microbiological forms and processes. The aim was to create a sense of dynamic interaction between elements and forces within the “body” of the building.
FROM INSPIRATION TO EXECUTION
Thanks in no small part to the excellent support we received from AstraZeneca’s site management team, and their logistical contractor Sodexo, all the decor was installed in a single overnight session by our team of balloon specialists. Visitors arriving the next morning were greeted by gigantic “microbiological” balloon installations throughout the AstraZeneca complex, generating a wave of enthusiastic social media commentary, and great personal feedback. The client was happy too!
"It was the balloons that made this the best party we’ve had at AstraZeneca. I couldn’t tell you how many questions and positive comments we heard throughout the evening."
